DAY 1

Introduction to the King’s Road starts from Hanko, Finland’s
most southern city. The city offers sandy beaches,
ornately decorated 19th century wooden houses
and beachfront restaurants.

In Tammisaari the old wooden buildings known as
Barcken’s houses give an atmosphere of the by-gone
18th and 19th centuries. The beautiful Tammisaari archipelago
and its national park can be reached by ship,
or it can be studied at the Nature Centre in the central
beach area.

One of the most famous places on the Western King’s
Road is the iron works village at Fiskars. The idyllic,
perfectly preserved industrial village and museums
explain metal refinement from past centuries to the
present day. Nowadays the iron works village has become
an arts and culture centre.

Bed and Breakfast Lemettinen offers an overnight at
Fiskars.
